New Approved Blokart Areas At Sydney Olympic Park.
The NSW Blokart Club would like to announce our new approved Blokart areas at Sydney Olympic Park.

The club has been involved in negotiations for at least eight months with members of Sydney Olympic Park to secure these areas on a twelve month trail basis.

P 5 is an overflow car park, bitumen surface and good for any type of Westerly wind. We have been given access seven days a week but there are some dates which are no go and can be obtained from the club.

Blaxland reserve is a grass area on top of a hill with a bitumen push bike track and good for most wind directions. This area is only available Monday to Friday.

To ensure the future of blokarting at this site, I believe that it is imperative that we adhere to the guide lines of usage set out by the Sydney Olympic Park.

Anyone wanting to use this area MUST first contact Danny Hall at NSW Blokart Club to obtain the guidelines for use and compulsory forms required. These forms are very simple but MUST be obtained prior to use.

The Club has worked hard to secure this land mark site, so let’s all do the right thing, follow the guidelines and enjoy Blokarting in our new venue.

New 5.5m High Top Sail Now Available
One thing blokart® International is renowned for is it’s innovation. We are continually looking to improve our products to widen the sailing-time window and improve the function… we love to make things better! So we have a few new things for you… 􀂃 5.5m High Top . o Rental operations and event companies globally will rejoice the long awaited introduction of the 5.5m High Top sail. After dozens of prototypes, hundreds of hours of testing, comparing, modifying and tweaking in a range of conditions, we have finally selected the ultimate design. Designed for a light 3-8knot breeze, this sail opens the sailing window even further. o The bottom batten has been deleted to permit easier tacking in lighter wind. o During the testing we had pilots over 100kg reaching speeds of 30km/hr in a steady 3 knot breeze. All sails come standard with a Carbon 3rd (to run with your existing mast sections), Pulley Whip® (a little shorter than normal),Boom, battens and sheet rope.o Not essential but for the very best performance we recommending running the 5.5m High Top with the all “New” Ultra Carbon® base (details over page), which is stiffer again than the standard CRB and designed around this sail. o Also not essential, but recommended with the 5.5m High Top, is the use of the blokart® Performance Down Haul® as it provides more adjustment, esp. while sailing, and better down haul. For a test sail contact your local dealer or enquire here for more infomation on these products.

New Ultra Carbon Mast Sections
Ultra Carbon base® o In the development of the 5.5m High top sails, and pushing for optimum performance in the light winds, we experimented with mast configurations. We could not resist the temptation to try some different Carbon Base section combinations. We were so happy with the results that we are proud to introduce the “Ultra Carbon Base®”. o Available as a 2pce set (a third and a base section). o Designed for the 5.5m the Ultra Carbon’s also give a boost in the other sails but give consideration to the wind strength, pilot weight and your ability because they are STIFF! Available Now

Performance Adjusters
Performance adjusters o Although the 2008 range of sails come equipped with a double-up bungee system for ease of operation, they also come ready to be easily upgraded to the sleek performance batten adjustment system. o With a slight modification (trim) to the batten length the adjusters easily fit straight to the sail for fine tuning of your batten tension with the provided key. o Adjuster keys come complete with a lanyard.

5 Point Harness

Blokart harness restraint for pilots with compromised muscle tone. It clips onto your existing blokart® effortlessly in seconds – no tools required. o blokart® only requires two working hands to sail, hence a lot of disabled users, particularly paraplegics & tetraplegics, find freedom in sailing on an even playing field. o Note: Although this product has been developed with the help of a disabled sailor, it may not cater for all disabilities. However in combination with a Shadow® the blokart® opens a huge window of excitement, entertainment and even adrenalin for the disabled.

Results from The Rydges Capricorn Resort 2007 Australian Blokart Open

As many of you will know the event was held at Rydges Capricorn Resort in Yeppoon Queensland.

Thursday 15th
Practice day, and by 10.30am saw a good number of karters already on the beach testing their skills on the hard surface, by 11.30 the wind was at 15knots and a few changed from 4.0m sails down to 3.0m’s. Ended up with some great sailing with a number of karters taking off on a 20km run north to the end of the beach, I heard top speed for the day was 73.km.

For others it was a wash down of the karts and off to the pools for a bit of R & R.

Friday 16th
With registration and scrutineering out of the way we had a total 64 entries including 5 juniors, 26 Performance and 38 Production, which I thought was fantastic.
Briefing was at 10.30am to 11am then it was off down the beach to finalise the course and start racing.

Winds were a bit lighter today averaging 10–14knots throughout the racing, which in some ways was quite fitting for the large numbers of karters that had entered into their first ever blokart race event. The lighter conditions allowed them to get the feel of the dial up starting procedures and course directions. All went "smooth as" and by the end of the day hot favorites were starting to appear.

The days racing finished with a 15km endurance race. All production karts started first followed 2 minutes later by all performance karts. An awesome sight to see 60 plus blokart's racing down a tropical beach to a marker and back.
Karts washed on the way back up from the beach and off to the pools for a much needed swim and a "cold one".

Saturday 17
Briefing 11am, all happy and yes wind again but a little lighter than yesterday but the sailing skills came out of the bags! Averaging a nice 7–10knots over the day allowed everyone, including the super heavy weights, to complete three heats and the endurance race. No rolling of the wheels, just a good light breeze for tactical sailing, which was a credit to all sailors. Karts washed and in the pool and yes another "cold one".
That evening we were all seated outside by the beach pool for a fantastic buffet dinner. A beautiful 24dgrs and a local musician playing. We were also privileged to some home grown blokart talent with a couple of songs and Aussie Mark on his digiree doo "amazing" I must make mention of 10 year old Kim Giles from Coffs Harbour who sang "I Call Australia My Home". Absolutely wonderful, well done Kim. Kim also won the junior class.

Sunday 18th
9.30am Tech Tips from Phil Smith (Bugs). Awesome to watch and great to hear Bugs passing on his sailing tips for everyone to try. The room was full and I’m sure everyone learnt something new. Thanks again Bugs.

11am briefing, the wind was still light but was predicted to increase.
12.30 on the beach and still light wind.
1pm we saw an increase and by 1.30 we had 15knts plus! We averaged 18knots for the day which was absolutely fantastic for the final day of sailing. 3.0m sails were definitely out in force and even a few experienced sailors tipped their karts. In all it made for an awesome final day topping off a great event.
Performance and Production class each achieved three heats per weight category per day plus the endurance race, which was brilliant to watch in ideal conditions with all karters beaming at the end.

I feel the event went off extremely well and I hope all concerned enjoyed the experience. I’m sure we will hold another event at this location.

I have listed below the top 3 results for each category. Please contact me for your final placing if you are not listed.

Thanks again to for all the support and help to make the event possible.
